Multifarious Activities Held by Self-learning Unit of Chinese Language Centre from July to December 2024
Events
Committed to delivering high-quality Chinese language learning and supporting students through a diverse range of activities and workshops, the Self-learning Unit (SLU) of the Chinese Language Centre successfully hosted a variety of events in the second half of 2024. The SLU has become a hub of activity, hosting different workshops, seminars, classes and inspiring teaching sessions for our teachers and students. The topics included classical Chinese literature, modern Chinese literature, Cantonese acquisition as well as Putonghua testing skills.
Notably, Dr Cheng Siu-Kei's lecture featured rare recordings of Sun Yat-sen's speeches in Cantonese to illustrate the evolution of the language over the past two centuries. Additionally, Dr Lam Chuen-Pan's workshop guided students on the importance of problematic and literature review in academic writing, addressing real challenges faced by students. The semester's activities were well-received, attracting nearly 370 registrations and over 160 participants. CLC looks forward to continuing to offer engaging and beneficial activities.
