The Kuok Group started more than 70 years ago in Malaysia and is today a multinational group with businesses and investments across numerous sectors including properties, hospitality, agribusiness, logistics, digital infrastructure and maritime.

Since its inception, the Kuok Group, together with its various charitable foundations, has provided grants and donations for educational and medical causes, as well as for general charitable purposes.

With its donation to The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Kuok Group hopes to offer more opportunities for students and help nurture the next generation.

 

Appointee

Professor Eva Ho

 

Professor Eva Ho is an Associate Professor at the School of Nursing at PolyU. Her research focuses on child and adolescent health, with a specific emphasis on symptom management in pediatric oncology. With extensive experience in utilising non-pharmacological interventions, Professor Ho effectively addresses various cancer-related symptoms, including fatigue, sleep impairment, nausea and vomiting, depression, spiritual distress, and sexual dysfunction in children and adolescents with cancer.

In addition, Professor Ho is deeply interested in studying addictive behaviours among children, particularly smoking, alcohol use and drug abuse. Distinguished for her research achievements in the field, she has been appointed as the Director of the Youth Quitline, the only hotline funded by the Hong Kong Government that provides telephone smoking cessation support specifically tailored to youths aged 25 or below.

With a strong commitment to research and knowledge dissemination, Professor Ho has secured over 30 grants as a principal investigator or co-investigator, amassing a cumulative funding amount exceeding HK$12 million. Professor Ho has published over 90 articles in renowned international peer-reviewed journals, including JAMA Internal Medicine, International Journal of Nursing Studies, eClinicalMedicine, Journal of Adolescent Health, BMC Cancer, and Psycho-oncology. She is also an Editor/Reviewer for various journals, such as BMC Public Health, Health and Quality of Life Outcomes, and Frontiers in Psychiatry.
