Dr Hsu Chun Liang
Dr Hsu Chun Liang is the Kuok Group Young Scholar in Aging and Neuroimaging and Assistant Professor at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and holds a PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences from the University of British Columbia.
With experience in clinical assessments related to mobility, neuropsychological batteries, and advanced neuroimaging analyses, Dr Hsu focuses on investigating the underlying neural correlates for the cognitive and mobility functions using functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques and randomised-controlled trials. Specifically, he centers around examining functional neural networks associated with mobility and cognitive impairments in the older adults, and explores the potential neural modulatory effects of different intervention strategies. Currently, his research revolves around examining the neural mechanisms of cognitive frailty, as well as understanding the neural underpinnings of reserve, and resilience against negative effects of aging- or disease-related pathology.
Dr Hsu’s contributions to the field of aging research have been recognised through various accolades, which acknowledge his current work and future prospects as an independent researcher in aging research. He was appointed as the Kuok Group Young Scholar in Aging and Neuroimaging in 2024, following his conferment of the title of Presidential Young Scholar in 2022.
