A green data centre with enhanced reliability and capacity now in service

The University Main Computer Room (MCR) has completed a major overhaul on air-conditioning, power supply and hosting capacity.

Major enhancements include:

Green Data Centre – The revamped MCR is a containment-based data centre configured with row-based type cooling units and sensors, to enhance the ventilations and temperature controls which can significantly improve cooling efficiency and save energy.
Reliable hosting environment – All data centre facilities, i.e. power supply, cooling supply, network connectivity etc., are provisioned with resilience configuration in both equipment and distribution level. This will highly enhance facility availability to provide a reliable hosting environment.
Enhanced capacity - The data centre capacity has been increased in terms of rack space (+66%), power (+150%) and cooling capacity (+88%). The high-density zones can host high performance and high power processing cluster nodes required by computing intensive applications for big data analytics or AI research projects.
