Remembering multiple strong security passwords in a mixture of uppercase/ lowercase letters, numbers and special characters might be annoying. However, if you reuse a password in several accounts, it may become a disaster once one of your accounts is being compromised.

On 22 June, a user in a popular hacker forum advertised data from 700 million LinkedIn users for sales. A sample including 1 million LinkedIn users’ data has been posted and examined. Despite no password leak, the personal information can still be used for identity theft and phishing.

Keeping your password safe is essential to protect your data and that of the PolyU community. It is strongly encouraged staff to update NetPassword if the same one is registered in LinkedIn.

Please also be advised that NetPassword should not be reused in the social media platforms where data breaches are getting common nowadays.
