New features in Microsoft Forms for education

Microsoft Forms allows users to create custom surveys, quizzes, polls, and questionnaires. Users can provide response to survey, quizzes, polls or questionnaires using a web browser on devices with different types of form factor. Collected responses can be reviewed and analyzed using MS Office software.

IT skills workshops for students in March

A series of workshops on IT skills for Future of Work and Research will be conducted in March 2023 for students. Topics include using Blender software to have object modelling on game development, Python & R programming, Deep Learning applications with real-case examples.

Security enhancement on PolyU multi-factor authentication service

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) provides extra security protection for accessing online applications or service outside campus. When connecting to campus network remotely from home or outside HKSAR using GlobalProtect VPN, users will be prompted to enter NetID and NetPassword. The Microsoft Authenticator app on pre-registered smart phone is also required to either approve (push notification verification) or input the 6-digit one time passcode (passcode verification) before access granted. Microsoft, our service provider of MFA service, will introduce “number matching” for users who select to use push notification as MFA verification method in March 2023. This will protect users from accidentally approving sign-in request initiated by a third party.

Anthology Blackboard workshop held successfully

To raise instructors and teaching assistants’ awareness on the latest development on LEARN@PolyU, the Anthology Blackboard workshop on 22 February 2023 was finished successfully. With over 50 participants from various departments, and guests from Korea University.

To enhance student experience in using eStudent and related systems, a number of advancements have been made to eStudent.
