Antivirus suites to Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) for cyber threats mitigation

For decades, University has invested in Antivirus suites in the hopes of overcoming the challenges of IT security. Antivirus software offered a means of blocking known malware by examining or scanning files as they were written to disk on a computer device. If the file was “known” to the Antivirus scanner’s database of malicious files, the software would prevent malware file from executing.

A number of phishing messages impersonated as sender of senior members of PolyU academic community and requested message recipients for urgent help such as buying money gift card and revert the card no and use passcode. This type of phishing attack normally display the name of staff member as sender but the real sending address is from external source.
