Abstract:
Prof. Nicolai Foss will provide an introduction to and overview of his forthcoming book (w. Peter G Klein) on Hachette with the above title. The book discusses recent calls for "bossless" company organization, that is, heavily decentralized organizational designs with a high level of employee empowerment. We discuss the historical origins of this narrative and its empirical basis, and discusses the "bossless" company narrative from the perspective of comparative governance.
