PolyU Joint University Summer Workshop on Information Systems 2023 JUSWIS 2023

Relive the highlights of the inaugural Joint University Summer Workshop on Information Systems (JUSWIS) held on July 6-8, 2023, at PolyU Business School's Department of MM! This annual event, a collaborative effort among the Information Systems (IS) groups at PolyU MM, The University of Hong Kong, and The Chinese University of Hong Kong, brought together over 100 faculty members and doctoral students within the Hong Kong IS community. Our two distinguished keynote speakers, Prof. Andrew Burton-Jones, Editor-in-Chief at MISQ, and Prof. Sarker Suprateek, Editor-in-Chief at ISR, captivated attendees by sharing their profound insights on the future of the IS field. With 20 parallel paper development sessions, authors of accepted papers had the opportunity to present their research and receive valuable feedback from our 8 distinguished guest advisors. The workshop concluded with lively mentoring sessions, fostering open dialogue between attendees and renowned guest advisors. MM CLI Symposium on Entrepreneurship and Innovation Policy by Prof. Peter G. Klein & Dr Jue Wang

The Centre for Leadership & Innovation (CLI) at the Department of Management and Marketing hosted the Symposium on Entrepreneurship and Innovation Policy on 11 July 2023. The two speakers are Professor Peter G. Klein from Baylor University in the United States and Dr Wang Jue from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. We also invited Professor Wu Xun from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) and Dr Wang Qinyu from our department, who discussed a range of important issues related to the two speeches.   MORE DETAILS

2023 Academy of Management Organizational Behavior Division Awards Finalists

Dr Fenghao Andrew WANG, our PhD alumnus, has been selected as a finalist for the Organizational Behavior Division 2023 Academy of Management Meeting Best Dissertation-Based Paper Award with his paper titled "The Consequences of Within-Team Social Hierarchy: Power vs. Status Matters". This award recognizes the empirical and/or conceptual paper based on the author or first author’s dissertation, which offers the most significant contribution to the field of organizational behavior. Ms Wei WU, our PhD student, has been selected as a finalist for the Organizational Behavior Division 2023 Academy of Management Meeting Outstanding Practical Implications for Management Paper Award with her paper titled "Are Job Rotation Programs Worth the Effort? How Job Rotation Influences Newcomers’ Adaptation Processes". This award recognizes the paper that has the best practical implications for management.

2022 JAMS Sheth Foundation Best Paper Award

Dr Fine Fanni LEUNG and Dr Fang Flora GU's article titled “Online Influencer Marketing” (published in March 2022) has won the Sheth Foundation Best Paper Award for Volume 50 (2022) of the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science. It was chosen for the award by a vote of the members of the Editorial Review Board, after the Area Editors selected a shortlist of the top 10 papers published in 2022. They collaborated with Prof. Robert PALMATIER from University of Washington, former Editor of Journal of Marketing and Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, on this paper.
