Dr Wright is a retired internationally recognized multi-award winning educator with over 36+ years experience in tertiary education. He is a four-time nominee for the University’s President’s Award for Excellence Performance, recipient of the President’s Award for Teaching Excellence and Finalist for the University Grants Committee Teaching Award, in addition to his other awards in research and service. Dr Wright is the recipient of the largest UGC Government funding ever awarded (in the history of the Faculty of Business) with his $HK9.7M 3-year Teaching & Learning Development Grant grounded on his pedagogical innovation called “F.O.C.U.S.E.D.” framework. In 2020, he received the Faculty Prize for Outstanding Service. In 2021 he completed a 6-months sabbatical leave attached to the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore. He is Associate Editor of the Journal of Management Education (JME) and sits on the Editorial Review Boards of the Academy of Management Learning & Education (AMLE), Organizational Research Methods (ORM), and previously served on the boards of the Academy of Management Review (AMR) and Journal of Organizational Behavior (JOB). Outside academia he is a Life Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Directors, and served on the Board of Directors for 14 years (as an Executive Council member) of the Hong Kong Institute of Human Resource Management. Dr Wright is a graduate of executive development programs in IMD in Switzerland, The Wharton School and the Harvard Business School.
