Prof. Chung obtained his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Sociology from Stanford University in 2000. He joined the National University of Singapore Business School since then. He was Professor and Head of the Department of Strategy and Policy before joining PolyU.
Prof. Chung specialized in areas of economic sociology and organization theory. He endeavors to explore and understand the social foundation such as social networks and status hierarchy that underpins business organizations and economic activities. His research contexts have been focusing on business groups in emerging economies, family firm governance and succession, and political connections and firm strategies. Prof. Chung’s works have appeared in Administrative Science Quarterly, American Journal of Sociology, Organizartion Science, Strategic Management Journal, and other referred journals. He is serving or has served as an editorial board member for several renowned journals in management disciplines, including Academy of Management Journal, Corporate Governance: An International Review, Journal of Management Studies, Management and Organization Review, and Strategic Management Journal. He is also the guest editor of Special Issue on Family Firms for Corporate Governance: An International Review.
