Aims and Characteristics

Programme Aims

 The programme aims to provide a unique educational opportunity for top-performing undergraduate students, offering them flexible learning pathways and curriculum options, personalised coaching, and in-depth mentorship. This initiative is designed to nurture and support exceptional individuals, allowing them to excel in their academic pursuits with a free option across disciplines and guaranteed outside-classroom and non-local learning opportunities. It also serves to inspire students to adopt an innovative, interest­driven and inspiring approach in their academic journey.

 

Learning Outcomes

Learning Outcomes provide a broad description of the intellectual abilities, knowledge, skills and attributes to be developed in all students.

 

The programme intended learning outcomes of BDSIS are outlined below. After completing the programme, students will be able to:

 

  1. Demonstrate strong commitment to creating a sustainable future for the benefit of the globe and the readiness to act and lead in specific areas of sustainable development with integrity, pride, and professionalism.
  2. Examine real-world issues from an interdisciplinary perspective, evaluate information critically and synthesise different viewpoints to form a holistic understanding.

  3. Integrate and apply in-depth knowledge and modes of thinking from two or more disciplines to develop innovative and entrepreneurial solutions to complex local, national and/or global challenges.

  4. Communicate and collaborate effectively with people from different disciplines and sectors with sensitivity and understanding.

  5. Commit to lifelong learning, plan their studies purposefully and adapt effectively to different learning situations and challenging circumstances.
