Aims and Characteristics
This is a university scheme that allows students to study what they are truly interested in and passionate about. Unlike any other programmes, they have the flexibility to design their own Major by following a structured curriculum framework for interdisciplinary studies. This approach encourages interdisciplinary learning and fosters a sense of ownership and creativity among students.

Introduction to Interdisciplinary Studies
The objectives of the subject are:
(i) Basic Understanding:
- Introduce students to the fundamental concepts of interdisciplinary studies.
- Provide an overview of the development and importance of interdisciplinary approaches in various fields.
(ii) Introduction to Critical Thinking:
- Begin developing students’ ability to think critically and understand how different disciplines can be integrated.
- Encourage initial exploration of how interdisciplinary methods can be used to address problems with different complexity.
(iii) Basic Research Skills:
- Introduce students to basic research skills, including how to identify and review relevant literature, and simple data collection techniques.
- Provide an overview of different research methods and their basic applications in interdisciplinary contexts.
(iv) Communication and Teamwork:
- Promote basic communication and teamwork skills necessary for working in interdisciplinary groups.
- Enhance students’ ability to share and present their ideas and findings in a clear and understandable manner across disciplines.
(v) Awareness of Ethical and Global Issues:
- Raise awareness of basic ethical considerations and global perspectives in interdisciplinary work.
- Encourage students to think about the broader social, cultural, and environmental impacts of their studies.
(vi) Personal and Academic Exploration:
- Help students begin to identify their own academic interests and potential interdisciplinary pathways.
- Encourage self-reflection and personal growth through exposure to diverse perspectives and disciplines.
