Dr Gilman Siu discusses future anti-pandemic strategy to support return to normality
In an interview with Ming Pao Daily News, Dr Gilman Siu, Associate Professor of the Department of Health Technology and Informatics, discussed future strategy to handle upcoming variants of the novel coronavirus as society slowly returns to normality from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Reflecting on the outbreak, Dr Siu said Hong Kong has made a significant leap in its laboratory virus tests technology and capability after the pandemic. The PolyU research team led by Dr Siu has also shared their genomic sequencing technology that has been instrumental in tracing COVID-19 transmission with local hospitals’ laboratories, enabling them to undertake rapid tests on their patients.
