Open to ALL finalists of PolyU Fashion Show 2020
Are you passionate about working with wool? Would you like to visit Australia and learn more about Merino wool? Flinders Merino Award is an award sponsored by The Woolmark Company (TWC) and Flinders Merino which aims to encourage young talents to use more wool and to raise awareness of the natural benefits of Australian Merino wool among the young generation of design talents in Hong Kong. The objective is that the designers will use Merino wool in their future collections.
The Woolmark Company & Flinders Merino-sponsored prize will be a trip to Australia to receive training about Merino wool. The prize-winning designer will meet woolgrowers on their properties, visit a wool auction, AWEX and AWTA, and exchanged ideas with the local fashion designers. This award brings designer to Australia Merino farm to experience the wool production and learns more knowledge about Australian Merino wool.
Award Content - Study Mission & Farm Visit for Hong Kong Designer Delegation:
During an around 10-day visit to wool-growing properties of Flinders Merino and fashion-related institutes/organizations, the delegation will develop a greater appreciation for the farm to fashion journey and draw inspirations from the natural and beautiful environment where Australian Merino sheep are reared. The designer also get to try their hands at shearing and feeding sheep – work which they are so far removed from when in Hong Kong.
Requirements:
- Being a finalist of the PolyU Fashion Show 2020
- To create a fashion collection which contains at least 60% of Merino wool fibre
- A portfolio submission with detailed fibre contents of each outfit indication and submit the portfolio in softcopy (name on your HKID card) to Mr Brian Tam by email brian.tam@wool.com (Tel.: 6656 5200) on/before 15 June 2020 (Monday)
