Project Title
Development and validation of an integrated image-based deep learning and large language models for myopia
Synopsis
Myopia is a global public health concern, particularly among children and adolescents. As myopia progresses, the risk of visual-threatening complications and even irreversible blindness also increases. Myopia complications detection and progression prediction are needed for effective interventions to prevent vision loss. With advancements in deep learning and large language models, we aim to propose an innovative integrated system to enhance myopia management in: 1) patient pre-consultation: the system facilitates direct interactions between patients and the digital platform regarding their medical conditions; 2) disease grading and lesion segmentation: with an image-based deep learning module, the system could detect and assess retinal lesions in pathological myopia; 3) personalized myopia progression prediction: the system utilizes historical health data and medical imaging to generates personalized predictions of myopia progression. Through this study, we could provide more accurate and personalized healthcare services for myopic patients globally especially in resource-limited settings.
