Remarks
Starting with the cohort 2024-25, all postgraduate students would be required to enrol in a 1-credit subject on Academic Integrity and Ethics (AIE), which would be offered without any tuition charge. Therefore, students enrolled in this programme would be charged tuition for a total of 30 credits only.

- It addresses the escalating importance of developing cutting-edge technologies for enhancing vision and eye care, as well as advancing instrumentations for ophthalmic industries.
- It provides an excellent platform for building networks and collaborations among students from diverse academic backgrounds, which encourages the exchange of creative ideas and best practices, and facilitates research and development collaborations.
- The research project allows students to apply knowledge and research skills acquired to their areas of interest, which fosters a deeper understanding of the subject matter and promotes practical application of theoretical concepts.
- Optional non-credit-bearing internships spanning 1 to 3 months will be offered depending on students’ study progress, schedule and the availability of internships.
- Scholarship opportunities are available subject to conditions.
Aims
- To foster creative solutions and integrate innovative technologies to enhance the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of vision problems for the clinicians;
- To establish a dynamic environment for basic and translational research to address major societal challenges in vision science, eye care and well-being;
- To facilitate more interdisciplinary collaboration and entrepreneurship to shape the future of visual sciences and eye health;
- To integrate different perspectives and research methodologies to produce robust and cutting-edge research evidence, addressing the complex challenges in vision health.
Medium of Instruction, Mode and Duration of Study
The programme will be delivered in English, and is a credit-based mixed-mode programme with normal duration of 1 year for full-time study and 2 years for part-time study.
