A Warm Welcome from VP(Education)

30 Aug 2024

General
Dear Students,

As the new academic year begins, we would like to extend a warm welcome to each and every one of you. We encourage you to take advantage of the resources and support services that are available to you.

The Academic Registry website serves as a crucial resource, pr
oviding access to important information such as the academic calendar, student handbook, and contingency arrangements for classes and examinations during bad weather. If you have any questions about studying at PolyU, our FAQ database is an excellent starting point. If you cannot find what you need there, kindly submit your question to us for a prompt response. Also, to be successful in your studies, do familiarize yourself with the academic integrity section, which is of paramount importance.

Moreover, eStudent is an indispensable tool for submitting applications, such as subject registration and amendments to personal information, and accessing essential study-related information, e.g. your enrollment records, class and examination timetables, subject results, etc. We recommend installing the “PolyULife” mobile app, available on both the App Store and Google Play, for quick access to information such as your class and examination timetables and payment due dates and to get push notifications of important messages.

For information about the General University Requirements (GUR) subjects, you may visit the GUR Subjects Library. You are also invited to visit the Student Affairs Office website to explore the types of assistance and services they provide, ranging from support for students with Special Educational Needs, counselling and wellness services to career guidance and placement opportunities. Lastly, if you are looking to enhance your English skills in specific areas, we encourage you to sign up during Weeks 1-3 of each semester for the Excel @ English Scheme offered by the English Language Centre.

Remember, your academic advisors and home departments are always available to provide guidance and support. We strongly encourage you to schedule regular meetings with your assigned academic advisor within your department. Please do not hesitate to contact them for any inquiries or assistance you may need (Academic Advising [Office of Undergraduate Studies]). We expect students to meet with their academic advisors in person or via online meetings at least once every semester.

We wish you all the best for a successful and fulfilling academic journey at PolyU.

Professor K.Y. Wong
Vice President (Education)
