
The International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE) is an independent, non-profit and non-political student exchange organisation. It provides students in technical degrees (primarily Science, Engineering and the applied arts) with paid and course-related training abroad, and employers with highly skilled and motivated trainees. With over 80 countries involved in the exchange of over 4,000 traineeships each year worldwide, it is the largest organisation of its kind in the world.
Locations: Brazil, Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, Slovenia, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey
Duration: Summer WIE starting from June 2025; from 4 to 12 weeks

Eligibility:
- UGC-funded full-time undergraduates
- Year 2 or penultimate students
- Aged 18 or above with valid travel document

Application:
Please apply through your academic department, whose nomination is required for your application. Students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, as the selection process will be conducted on a rolling basis subject to availability.
Itinerary Planning:
Students must arrange for the following at their own responsibilities and should inform GEO of the details before departure and/or internship commencement.
- Request for WIE endorsement and apply for OWS (if applicable)
- Visa application (NOT applicable for virtual internship)
- Round trip airfare (NOT applicable for virtual internship)
- Accommodation (NOT applicable for virtual internship)
Financial Assistance from GEO:
A. Offshore WIE Sponsorship (OWS) :
- Full-time students of UGC-funded undergraduate degree programmes
- WIE endorsement from the academic department will be required

B. Hardship Allowance :
Students with proven financial difficulties can apply for a Hardship Allowance to support expenses incurred in offshore WIE. For detailed eligibility and application procedures, please see the guidelines on the GEO website.
C. Learning Incentive:
A cash incentive (HK$2,300) will be granted to students in reward for their efforts in maximising the WIE learning opportunities.
