I worked at the smart city institute in the JSTI Group this summer.

During the internship, my duties and responsibilities were facilitating different company’s projects. First, I was assigned to Project Management (PM) system project which provides IT solution to the customer and to ensure that the project can be delivered in time. Then, I was assigned to learn how to use the Sophon software. It is an AI software with big data processing. Later, I was assigned to build a Hadoop cluster platform and develop a word counting Map-Reduce system in this platform.

Before the internship, I was thinking that I will work as a web developer, because what I’m good at is website design and web programming. However, after working in JSTI, I think that I can also work as a computing engineer due to the current technology trend. I learnt about big data and machine learning in this internship, and I found that I was interested in this discipline. Therefore, I would like to become a computing engineer related to big data and data processing in the future.
