The Belt and Road Office Talk, themed “Building Human Capital through Hong Kong” and organised by the Belt and Road Office of the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau of the HKSAR government, was successfully held on 20 November 2024. The event brought together participants from the business, higher education and youth sectors, as well as students and graduates from the Belt and Road, to share insights into Hong Kong’s uniqueness as a hub for human capital.
Prof. Geoffrey Shen, Associate Vice President (Global Partnerships) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), delivered a speech on the opportunities available for Belt and Road students to pursue education at PolyU. Over 80 participants attended the event.
Esteemed speakers also included Mr Nicholas Ho, Commissioner for Belt and Road; Mr Jeff Sze, Under Secretary for Education; Mr Eric Chan, Commissioner for Youth; Mr Anthony Lau, Director of Hong Kong Talent Engage; and senior representatives of local universities. They highlighted Hong Kong’s various initiatives in enhancing education, youth development and talent engagement. Students from Belt and Road countries also participated in a panel discussion, sharing their positive experiences of studying and living in Hong Kong.
