CHUI Chun Wai

BBA (Hons) Financial Services

Industrial and Commerical Bank of China, Shanghai

In this short period of time, my job duties include standing in the lobby to receive customers, going out to promote ETC, and making PowerPoint for ICBC internal competitions

I learnt different things during this period. First, I have learnt about the real work and processes of a bank. From having the morning meeting to communicating with customers, and then visit the customer company for marketing. These things are stuffs that I have never be in touch with and also quite different from what I imagined. The banking career I originally imagined was to stay in the office every day and go home after the end of working hours. However, what I have experienced was everyone working very hard every day, which reminding me of the difficulty of life, and letting me experience the hardships of work.

The second is to let me learn the attitude towards work. Even in a hot environment, you must maintain a professional attitude and take every customer seriously, and don't give up any chance. As an intern, we must have a positive attitude. Because what we can learn during this short internship is very limited, we have to take the initiative to ask questions and equip ourselves to prepare ourselves for the future. We have to be aware of any detail in our work and take every chance to bring our career to the next level.

In addition, I also realized that my shortcomings are a lack of work experience and professional knowledge. When dealing with some customer queries and requirements, I am not sure how I should face it. I can only keep asking questions from teaching teachers. As time goes by, I hope that I can accumulate more experience to face the challenges in the future.

For our students, the purpose of my study is not to pass the final exam, but to gain knowledge, acquire work skills, and acquire the ability to survive in society. In other words, learning at school is to be able to adapt to the needs of society, and to ensure that we can complete future work and contribute to society through learning. However, stepping out of the school into the society is a big gap. It is a blessing for me to enter ICBC as an internship.

I firmly believe that what I have learnt and experienced in this period will well prepare me for future life planning and career development. I also hope that I can better practice what I have learned during this period in the future.
