The PolyU Presidential PhD Fellowship Scheme (PPPFS) is designed for top candidates from around the world with exceptional academic/research achievements.
This is a highly prestigious and distinctive fellowship, with a limited number of places available on a competitive basis each academic year.
The standard of applicants is always extremely high and the selection process is very competitive.
Eligibility
In addition to meeting the university entrance requirements and English language requirements for PhD programmes, successful applicants must demonstrate exceptional academic achievements, high-quality international publications, outstanding references, and strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Scholarship Package
Successful applicants will receive the following package for the entire normal study period:
- Annual Stipend of HK$333,480
- Conference Grant of HK$25,000
- Research Excellence Scholarship in the form of a tuition fee waiver
- Cash Award to support research and living expenses
HK$40,000 in Year 1; HK$20,000 per year in the remaining normal study period - University Accommodation: Eligible hall place for 1 year. Please refer to this link for the hall admission policy and fees.
Application Procedures and Period
Eligible candidates can apply for the PPPFS in the 2025/26 Admission Exercise via the RPgAdmission:
- Select PPPFS in the Fellowship and Scholarship
- There are two rounds of selection per year
- Main round application deadline: 1 December 2024 23:59 HKT (GMT +8 hours)
- Clearing round application deadline: 1 April 2025 23:59 HKT (GMT +8 hours)
- Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply in the Main Round and apply also for the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme. Applications will be considered in the clearing round only if there are vacancies after the Main Round.
Selection Guidelines
Applications are assessed holistically based on a combination of academic merit, research experience, and alignment with the University’s strategic goals.
Fellowships are awarded to the highest-ranked applicants in the round and the number of fellowships offered in each round is subject to funding availability.
