The International Conference and Exhibition Funding Scheme (ICEFS) aims to encourage CURI members to present their research work and findings at virtual or physical international conferences and exhibitions, so as to promote their research and expand their professional networks.1. Eligibility
All current CURI members are eligible to apply for the funding. Applicants must have their research work accepted for presentation at an international conference or exhibition. The research output must be resulted from the applicant’s URIS research project.
2. Application
Applications are accepted all year round and must be submitted to the CURI Administration by email at least four weeks before the event start date. Applicants must submit a completed application form along with the following supporting documents:
- Letter of acceptance for the conference or exhibition;
- Copy of abstract/poster/paper/design to be presented; and
- Endorsement from the Chief Supervisor of the URIS research project and the Departmental/ School Research Committee (D/SRC).
Applicants must declare clearly whether other sources of funding are/will be sought for the same event.
3. Financial Sponsorship
Funding is granted based on the stature of the conference/exhibition, the recommendation of the Chief Supervisor, and the potential benefits of the conference/exhibition on the applicant’s research. The maximum total funding amount is $20,000/student, regardless of the number of applications, which can be used to cover the following items:-
Event registration fee, two-way travel in economy class and visa application fee on a reimbursement basis; and
-
A subsistence allowance of $800/night for meals and accommodation for events outside Hong Kong, covering the event period plus one night before and after the event.
Funding will be disbursed after the completion of the event, upon submission of a reimbursement form, official receipts, boarding passes and a post-event report. Successful applicants are required to present their research at the next PolyU Research Student Conference (PRSC).
The approval is made on a rolling basis upon funding availability. The final decisions shall rest with the CURI Administration.
