PolyU’s flag-raising ceremony honours 27 years of HKSAR establishment
In a heartfelt celebration of unity and pride, PolyU marked a momentous occasion commemorating the 27th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) with a flag-raising ceremony. The event brought together around 600 distinguished guests, staff, students, and alumni, all united in their wishes for the prosperity and stability of the Nation and Hong Kong.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of notable dignitaries, including Mr Deng Jianwei, Director-General of the Bureau of Liaison, Office for Safeguarding National Security of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR, and Mr Wang Jian, Director (Counselor) of the Department of International Organisations and Conferences, Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the HKSAR. They were joined by PolyU President Professor Jin-Guang Teng, Deputy Council Chairman Dr Lawrence Li Kwok-chang, University Court Chairman Dr Katherine Ngan, along with Council and Court members, University senior management, University Fellows, Outstanding Alumni, and members of the PolyU Foundation.
A highlight of the event was the participation of the Guo Qi Hu Wei Dui (廣東護旗兵國旗護衛隊), who conducted the flag-raising ceremony in the HKSAR for the first time, in collaboration with the PolyU Student Flag-Raising Team. This joint effort added a special meaning to the event, symbolising the spirit of cooperation and unity between the University and the Greater Bay Area communities on this memorable day.
