Culture X AI 2024-2025 showcases HK’s fusion of technology and fashion
On a splendid evening at the Victoria and Albert Museum in the United Kingdom, the realms of technology and fashion intersected in a captivating display at the Culture X AI 2024-2025: Kan Tai Keung X AiDLab X Hong Kong Fashion Designers Show.
This event, held on 17 July (London time), celebrated Hong Kong’s innovative spirit through the collaborative efforts of the Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence in Design (AiDLab), the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, London (London ETO), and the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA).
Organised by AiDLab, a joint establishment by PolyU and the Royal College of Art (RCA) under InnoHK, and funded by the CCIDA, the show highlighted the blend of art and technology. It featured the works of renowned artist and ink painter, Dr Kan Tai-keung, and five esteemed Hong Kong fashion designers: Derek Chan, Wilson Choi, Tak Lee, Sophia XinLi and Aries Sin. Each designer presented AI-crafted collections, demonstrating the fusion of technology and artistic expression.
Showcasing Hong Kong’s cultural and technological prowess
The evening began with a pre-show reception for over 300 guests. The Culture X AI 2024-2025: Kan Tai Keung X AiDLab X Hong Kong Fashion Designers Show is a flagship event under the AiDLab’s broader Culture X AI programme, spotlighting Hong Kong’s culture, design and innovation on the global stage.
This programme, sponsored by the CCIDA, promotes AI in Hong Kong’s cultural and creative industries. The collaboration between Dr Kan and the five esteemed Hong Kong fashion designers guided attendees through the five key phases of Dr Kan’s creative career, showcasing how AI can elevate human creativity in aesthetics and craftsmanship.
The event underscored Hong Kong’s commitment to creative excellence and technological advancement, providing a platform for artists and designers to explore AI’s possibilities. The collaboration between PolyU and RCA through AiDLab reflects Hong Kong’s strategic focus on integrating AI into its creative industries, aligning with its vision to become a global centre for innovation and technology.
