PolyU CEO Club fosters industry-academia partnerships
In a dazzling evening event at Hotel ICON, PolyU CEO Club (the Club) celebrated the inauguration of its ninth executive committee. The gathering brought together business leaders, government officials and academic luminaries, all united to mark this pivotal occasion.
Distinguished guests, including Dr Bernard Chan Pak-li, Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of the Hong Kong SAR, and Professor Jin-Guang Teng, PolyU President, graced the event. In his address, Professor Teng praised the Club for its crucial role in fostering industry-academia collaborations and advancing societal development.
The evening’s crescendo came with the re-election of Dr Allen Shi Lop-tak, a PolyU University Fellow and renowned industrialist, as President of the Club for another two-year term. Dr Shi emphasised the Club’s commitment to acting as a bridge between the University and the business community. He also announced plans to host more thematic seminars and exchange activities, enabling the business community to gain deeper insights into PolyU’s cutting-edge research and explore potential collaboration opportunities.

Established in 2005 by PolyU’s Knowledge Transfer and Entrepreneurship Office (formerly the Institute for Entrepreneurship), the Club is a prestigious organisation designed specifically for Chief Executive Officers and entrepreneurs. The Club aims to further enhance exchanges between PolyU and enterprises, drive industry-academia collaboration, and accelerate the commercialisation of research outcomes. These efforts are poised to contribute to technological innovation and economic prosperity in Hong Kong, the Nation and the world.
