Mr. Daniel Kwasi Ahorsu

Position: PhD Student (Full-time)

Autobiography:
I am Daniel Kwasi Ahorsu, a Clinical Psychologist from Ghana. I received my Master of Philosophy degree from the Department of Psychology at the University of Ghana. Having worked at the Progressive Life Centre-Gh and Ghana Health Service (UE/R Hospital) for some years, I decided to pursue my Doctor of Philosophy degree to brush up my research and academic skills. I am currently at the beginning of year two under the supervision of Professor Hector Tsang. My research intends to use neuroimaging techniques to better understand why individuals with Major Depressive Disorder as compared to healthy controls tend to fixate on negative emotional stimuli. PolyU has a good international reputation, modern facilities and a clear research focus on neuroscience. My decision to pursue PhD in PolyU was due to two main reasons: the excellent research infrastructure and a perfect match between my research interest and my supervisor’s expertise. With the above, I feel fully assured of having a good environment for me to conduct my PhD study with quality supervision. This will also lay a solid foundation for my future academic career.
