Dr Erin Lu

Position: Post-doctoral Fellow
Autobiography:
I joined Professor Hector Tsang’s team after I completed my PhD study in psychology at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. I was involved in research on personality, acculturation, and intergroup relations during my PhD study. Recently, I have also developed interest in neuroscience and cross-cultural aspects of mental health. I’m currently working on literature review, data analysis, and writing of several projects on interventions to enhance mental health and psychosocial functioning.

Miss Mandy Lai

Position: Research Fellow
Autobiography:
Fond of education and psychology, I work as a research fellow in Professor Hector Tsang’s team on a Quality Education Fund Project “Facilitating transition to primary schools of NCS (Non-Chinese Speaking) students: Coping with challenges of foreign language anxiety in learning Chinese, social integration and social participation”. With my previous working experience in the school setting, I mainly work in the implementation and monitoring of the project. It is meaningful to provide psychological and social support for the well-being of the NCS students and promote social integration based on evidence coming out from our research team.

Miss Jillian Zhou

Position: Research Associate
Autobiography:
I joined the team in 2017 and currently help with the project “From prevention to community integration: Service models, intervention strategies, and outcome evaluation for recovery from severe mental illness in Chinese communities (Hong Kong and Beijing)”. With my previous experiences in large-scale community health project and psychosocial intervention for clinical population, I am very interested in and glad to be able to join the current project. It is meaningful to develop such interdisciplinary intervention for people suffering from early psychosis and provide support to them for better recovery and smoothly getting back to the community.

Miss Cally Lam

Autobiography:
I am a HKPCA Certified Counsellor and Associate Fellow, completed a Master degree in School Guidance and Counselling in CUHK, as well as a Bachelor degree in Policy Studies and Administration in CityU. Currently, I work as a Project Manager in the Rehabilitation Programme Plan (RPP) to assist the formulation of the new RPP for the Government, through supporting the Consultant Team with different scholars from varies departments in PolyU. It is really meaningful for me to work for the people in need and assist people to overcome their difficulties.

Miss Ruth Zhao

Position: Research Associate
Autobiography:
I am so glad to join Professor Hector Tsang’s team in Feb, 2018. Finishing four years’ PhD study in social welfare in the Chinese University of Hong Kong, I gained highly and persistent academic interest in the disadvantaged persons and social services oriented to them. The RPP (Rehabilitation Program Plan) which I am involved in provides me precious opportunity to go further in this specific area. I have gained improvement in academic research through working on literature review, assessment optimization and data collection. The diligent and rigorous academic atmosphere here makes me believe that our efforts will finally benefit the disabled ones and even the whole society.

Mr Cody Chinn

Position: Research Assistant
Autobiography:
As a new member in Prof. Hector Tsang’s team, I currently help with the project of reviewing Rehabilitation Programme Plan. I received my postgraduate degree in Criminology from the University of Manchester where I was exposed to a project of evaluating prisoner reentry programmes. My research interests are community-based rehabilitation, evaluation of social interventions and policy making process. In addition to the medical perspective on the projects, I hope to contribute to the aspects of social integration, especially for persons with psychosocial disabilities.

 It is my pleasure to be part of the team for the project of “Consultancy Services for Review of Hong Kong Rehabilitation Programme Plan” (RPP) commissioned by the Labour and Welfare Bureau. With knowledge of data analysis techniques and statistical background, I am a calibre for data management, statistical analysis, data description, findings interpretation and reports preparation. I had hands-on experience in mining and analyzing data from mega databases for randomized controlled trials and population-based surveys. I look forward to contributing my analytical skills and experience to the project.

Miss Vincy Wong

Autobiography:
 I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Applied Biology with Biotechnology and research degree of MPhil at PolyU. My research was to study the nutritional characteristics of breast milk of Hong Kong lactating women. I am interested in the research area of health, fitness and diet. It’s my great honor to join Prof. Tsang’s team in 2019. I mainly work on the project “Efficacy of Warmth and Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) in Improving Cognitive Functions and Behavioral Symptoms in Older Adults with Dementia: A Randomized, Controlled Clinical Trial”.

Miss Vivian Lau

I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Newcastle University in 2017. I am glad to become a member of the research team under Professor Hector Tsang as this is a great opportunity for me to get to know more about rehabilitation sciences. As a new member of the research team, I am now assisting with the project, “From prevention to community integration: Service models, intervention strategies, and outcome evaluation for recovery from severe mental illness in Chinese communities(Hong Kong and Beijing)”.

I hold a B.Ed in Special Needs from the Education University of Hong Kong and I am currently finishing a MSc in Psychology. I have learning support and teaching experience in international and IB bilingual schools in Hong Kong. Apart from teaching, I also volunteer as a board member of SENIA-HK and with a Jockey Club program to convert physical books into accessible, electronic formats for students with print disabilities. I am excited to join Professor Hector Tsang’s team.  I look forward to supporting individuals with a wide range of needs

As one of the new members in Professor’s team, I mainly focus on the collaboration project with the Greater Bay Area (the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University) and other projects.
