Biography

Dr Shang received his Master’s degree in Public Health at Peking Union Medical University in 2011. He was awarded a PhD scholarship to pursue his study on Epidemiology and obtained his PhD degree at the University of Melbourne in 2017. He worked as an epidemiologist and a Statistician at the Centre for Eye Research Australia from 2018 to 2024. He has extensive experience in conceiving and leading research projects and has led international teams including ophthalmologists, epidemiologists, biostatisticians, nutritionists, and neurologists. This has led to more than 100 publications with more than 40 as the first/senior author (High-index 21). As the first/senior author, he has published many publications in top journals including Ophthalmology, Nature Communications, Eclinicalmedicine, Hypertension, Ageing Cell, American Journal of Ophthalmology, and American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. His first/senior authored publications have been featured as the cover page by Ophthalmology, Aging Cell, and Hypertension.

Research Overview

Dr Shang has extensive experience in statistics and big data analysis. His primary research interest lies in exploring the intricate relationships between eye health and the risk of systemic diseases. Additionally, he is passionate about utilizing machine learning to predict eye diseases.
