Project Title
The Role and Molecular Mechanisms of Simulated Growth Hormone Changes on Myopia

Synopsis

The onset and progression of myopia in adolescents are intricately linked to axial growth, with a negative correlation observed between axial length and diopter measurements. Previous studies implicated that changes in growth hormone (GH) levels not only can cause changes in height, but also can affect the development of the eye axis. However, there are many unresolved questions, including it is not clear on the specific effects of GH on ocular axis and dioptre, whether there are differences in the molecular mechanism of the effects of GH on height and ocular axis, and also whether the effect of GH is controllable.
The primary aim of this project is to investigate the impact of GH on ocular parameters, including axial length and myopic degree through controlled animal experiments. And also to elucidate the biological basis and molecular mechanism of the effect of GH on myopia course, which will hold significant importance for understanding the etiology and pathogenesis of myopia.
