The Sixth Management Committee Meeting Held Online

The Sixth Management Committee Meeting was held on 15 January 2022 online. During the meeting, researchers from each task reported their progress and discussed a lot of scientific issues, e.g., further optimization of SSC mix, the development of integrated optical fibre sensor, the calibration of models at different scales combined with a large database.

The Fifth FRP-SSC Workshop Held Online

The Fifth International Workshop on Seawater Sea-sand Concrete (SSC) Structures Reinforced with FRP Composites (5th FRP-SSC Workshop) was successfully held online on 15-16 January 2022. This workshop was co-organized by the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Research Institute for Sustainable Urban Development of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Professor Teng Jin-guang, a chair professor of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and president of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, served as the advisory chairman of the workshop organizing committee; Professor Yu Tao served as the chairman of the workshop organizing committee. A series of presentations were given by about 30 invited speakers to share their latest findings in the related area, besides, this workshop attracted nearly a thousand experts and scholars from home and abroad to register.

The Second Meeting with External Advisory Board Members Held Online

The second meeting with External Advisory Board members was held on 11 Feb 2021 online. Advisory PC and members from the External Advisory Board commented on the progress of the project. A number of questions were raised on the five tasks.

The Fifth Management Committee Meeting Held Online

The fifth Management Committee Meeting was held on 18 January 2021 online. During the meeting, researchers from each task reported their progress and discussed a lot of scientific issues, e.g., reliability of the MD simulation results, use of high-performance concrete resolution of the newly developed pH sensors.

The Fourth International Workshop on Seawater Sea-sand Concrete (SSC) Structures Reinforced with FRP Composites (4th FRP-SSC Workshop) was successfully held online on 9-10 January 2021. This workshop was co-organized by the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Research Institute for Sustainable Urban Development of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The Fourth Management Committee Meeting Held online

The fourth Management Committee Meeting was held on 8 August 2020 online. The meeting started with a brief report on the overall progress of the project by the PC. Each task leader then present their latest progress and outcomes. Discussions were made on the simulation of the evolution of ettringite (AFt), the SSC mix proportions used in the structural tests, the accelerated laboratory exposure tests of the FRP-SSC structural members, etc.

The Third International FRP-SSC Workshop Held at SUSTech

The Third International FRP-SSC Workshop was held on 11-12 January 2020 at SUSTech. A series of presentations were given by invited speakers to share their latest findings in the related area. The workshop were attended by more than 200 researchers from home and abroad.

The Second Management Committee Meeting Held at PolyU

The second Management Committee Meeting was held on 28 Sept 2019 at PolyU. The key team members in each task gave a presentation to update the task research progress, including the research activities, appointment of personnel, usage of fund, and future plans.

The First Management Committee Meeting Held at PolyU

The first Management Committee Meeting was held on 2 Mar 2019 at PolyU. During the meeting, the PC first introduced the management rules for the TRS project, which are proposed to ensure the successful implementation of the project. Each task leader then introduced the detailed research plan, collaboration with non-local team members, and recruit of research personnel. Some important scientific issues, e.g., mix designs of SSC and artificial seawater, were discussed and sorted out during the meeting.

The Launching Ceremony & The Second International FRP-SSC Workshop Successfully Held at PolyU

The launching ceremony & the Workshop was held on 1-2 December 2018, at PolyU. The launching ceremony was held in Day One (1 December), which started with a welcoming speech given by Prof. Alex Wai, Deputy President and Provost [then Vice President (Research Development)] of PolyU. Prof. Poon then introduced the CEE Department and its recent research achievements. Prof. Teng concluded with an introduction on the TRS project. Presentations were then given by invited speakers, most of whom are involved in the TRS project. Day Two of the workshop was a closed-door meeting for the TRS project, which was attended by more than 40 team members and students involved in the project. Each task leader or representative gave a presentation on the first-year research plan of each task, followed by detailed discussions.
