HSO System Updates for Enhanced Safety and Efficiency

We - Update

In 2024, two major system updates were introduced to enhance efficiency in chemical management and research safety approval application processes.

Check Out Chemical When Used Up

Three Methods for Checking Out Used Chemicals in the Chemical Management System (CMS)

In June 2024, the Chemical Management System (CMS) was officially launched to replace the previous central database and procurement system. The CMS is designed to streamline the management of hazardous chemicals and controlled substances at PolyU, covering all aspects from purchase and storage to handling and disposal.

Users are reminded to check out chemicals once they have been used to ensure accurate inventory records and facilitate timely chemical procurement.

To check out chemicals, users can choose from the following methods:

  1. QR Code Scanning: Simply scan the QR code on the chemical labels.
  2. CMS Item Code Search: Search and select the item code directly within the CMS.
  3. Batch Check-Out via Excel: Complete an Excel template and upload it to the CMS for batch processing.

Adhering to these check-out procedures is crucial to avoid delays in future chemical purchases. For enquiries, please contact HSO at 3400-8416 or chemical.safety@polyu.edu.hk.

The Research Safety Approval System (RSAS)

Streamlining Research Safety Approvals by the Research Safety Approval System (RSAS)

Launched on 2 July 2024, the Research Safety Approval System (RSAS) streamlines the approval process for research projects involving chemical, biological, and ionizing/ non-ionizing radiation safety concerns.

The updated system fosters an efficient, paperless workflow by simplifying user registration, and expediting principal investigator declarations and research safety approval processes. It also offers an improved user experience with clear application status updates.
