Full implementation of The Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Safety Management) Regulation
The Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Safety Management) Regulation mandates that proprietors and contractors implement a 14-element safety management system (SMS). The first 10 elements have been in effect since 2002.
Starting 29 April 2024, the remaining 4 elements, which include Job-Hazards Analysis, Safety and Health Awareness, Accident Control and Hazard Elimination, and the Occupational Health Assurance Programme, are implemented to complete the Regulation’s full implementation. Concerned proprietors and contractors are also required to regularly carry out safety audits of their SMS.
