PolyU entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shanghai NIO Co., Ltd. (Shanghai NIO) on 8 November 2024 for collaboration in research and development, the transformation of research results and talent fostering in the field of battery technology of novel electric vehicles.

The two parties will leverage their respective strengths to engage in extensive exchange and cooperation in realms such as technology research and development, the transformation of research results into industrial technologies, talent cultivation, and innovation capacity development. Researchers from PolyU and Shanghai NIO will actively carry out joint research and development centring on forward-looking technologies, key common technologies, and engineering application technologies for smart electric vehicles, as well as basic research in high-end equipment manufacturing and related industries, to expedite the transformation of research results into industrial technologies.
