PolyU has signed agreements to promote industry-academia-research collaboration with Jinjiang city in Fujian province, Hangzhou city in Zhejiang province and Ningbo city in Zhejiang province.

 

The agreements include establishing joint technology and innovation research institutes in the regions to carry out in-depth and effective industry-academia-research collaboration. The PolyU-Jinjiang Technology and Innovation Research Institute will focus on fields such as textile materials, fashion design and microelectronics. The PolyU-Hangzhou Technology and Innovation Research Institute will initially set up three research centers in rail transit, canal tourism and digital medical beauty.

 

In Ningbo, PolyU and the Eastern Institute of Technology will collaborate in advanced manufacturing and chemical energy as well as low-carbon sustainability. The PolyU-Ningbo Technology and Innovation Research Institute will leverage PolyU research talents and technologies to attract Hong Kong enterprises and researchers to Ningbo.

 

The collaborations aim to complement the strengths of PolyU and the Mainland cities, develop innovative solutions and create leading innovation hubs. The initiatives also seek to integrate PolyU into national development and support Hong Kong in becoming an international innovation and technology hub.

 

Moving forward, PolyU will continue to strengthen collaboration with Mainland enterprises and institutions to conduct impactful research and accelerate the commercialisation of research outcomes.
