Name of the equipment
Pro-Nitro M Kjeldahl Steam Distillation unit
Brand
J.P. Selecta
Description
Pro-Nitro M Kjeldahl Steam Distillation unit is used for determination of organic nitrogen and protein according to Kjeldahl Method. It offers automatic NaOH dosage and temporize stop. It provides a sample steam distillate and an alkali adding in safety way. The unit have the following systems:
Generates steam from the water reservoir placed at the top of the unit.
The steam generator includes two safety devices:
- Safety thermostat: Cuts the electrical power to the heater when overtemperature is detected on the steam generator. (Probably for poor level of water)
- Pressure switch: Cuts the electrical power to the heater when there is an over-pressure on the steam generator.
Also includes a conductivity sensor to keep a constant level of water in the steam generator.
It is made mainly by two glassware parts:
- The splash protector: Its special design avoids that NaOH splash reach the cooler glassware.
- The cooler: It condensates the steams that are leaking from the sample. This glassware is cooled by a water circuit that comes from an external tap. An internal valve opens and closes this circuit automatically.
- NaOH addition system
Composed by a properly specified pump to dispense NaOH directly to sample tube when distillation is running.
