PolyU unveils Garden Restaurant Project: an engaging and vibrant community space
The University has recently embarked on an exciting Garden Restaurant project, which aims to revitalise the Core CD and DE Podiums, transforming them into a dynamic communal catering and multi-purpose area for staff, students and PolyU members to connect, collaborate and enjoy a vibrant community space.
The Project Kick-off Ceremony, held in May, was officiated by Dr Lam Tai-fai, Council Chairman; Professor Jin-Guang Teng, President; Professor Wong Wing-tak, Deputy President and Provost; and Dr Miranda Lou, Executive Vice President. During the event, they shared the Project’s concept and their vision for creating a sustainable and enriching environment for the PolyU community.
The Garden Restaurant will not only feature modern design elements but will also serve as a testbed for innovative technologies developed by PolyU. This initiative will contribute to the University’s sustainability efforts and help reduce carbon footprints of campus buildings. In the long term, the venue will be developed into a multi-purpose area that can host a variety of events, including exhibitions, performances, sports, and cultural events.
Targeted for completion by the end of 2024, the venue will create opportunities for engagement and foster a sense of belonging among University members.
