University Fellowship awarded to three dedicated PolyU supporters
Three outstanding individuals, known for their unwavering support to the University, were bestowed with the title of University Fellowship by PolyU. The honorary accolade was conferred on them in recognition of their significant contributions to the University and the broader community. The new PolyU Fellows are:
Ms Cecilia Ho Chung-chee
President of Lee Hysan Foundation
Having navigated the unpredictable financial world, Ms Cecilia Ho fully recognised the vulnerability of material possessions and shifted her focus from wealth creation as a banker to philanthropy. Under her leadership, Lee Hysan Foundation has spearheaded projects to support PolyU’s Service-Learning initiatives, offering students the opportunity to learn while serving the community. The Foundation has also steadfastly supported PolyU’s research endeavours, aiming to create social impact and tackle issues such as holistic care for cancer children and their caregivers, elder abuse prevention, teacher wellness, eye care for underprivileged students, and non-surgical treatments for patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis.
Mr Benedict Sin Nga-yan
Director and General Manager of Myer Jewelry Manufacturer Limited
A veteran in the jewelry industry, Mr Benedict Sin has served as PolyU Court Member since 2019, providing valuable advice and support for the University’s development. He was instrumental in fostering the establishment of the Sin Wai Kin Foundation Endowed Professorship in Humanities and Technology in 2022, enabling PolyU scholars to explore and advance cutting-edge research. Since 2012, the Foundation has generously supported PolyU’s education and research initiatives, including the publication of a biannual journal titled Kaiwu: Science, Technology and Culture by the PolyU Press, as well as setting up student scholarships and funding for humanities and rehabilitation sciences research projects.
Mr Peter Sit Kien-ping
Senior Partner of Sit, Fung, Kwong & Shum
Mr Peter Sit has been serving the legal sector for over 40 years. In 2018, he was inducted into the Roll of Honour of the Law Society of Hong Kong in recognition of his distinguished contribution to the legal sector in Hong Kong. Dedicated to educating the next generations of professionals, he has served for PolyU as Council Member from 2015 to 2021, and as Court Member from 2021, providing invaluable professional advice to the University and playing a crucial role in the Governance Committee, Campus Development Committee, Task Force on Governance Report of University Grants Committee, and several search committees for the University’s senior management.
