Commemorating 75 years of the founding of the People’s Republic of China at PolyU
On 1 October, PolyU hosted a lively Flag-raising Ceremony on campus to mark the 75th Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. This significant occasion drew approximately a thousand attendees, including university leaders, staff members, students, alumni, and esteemed guests, all gathered to celebrate this momentous milestone.
The ceremony was graced by several notable figures, including Dr Lam Tai-fai, PolyU Council Chairman; Professor Jin-Guang Teng, President; Dr Lawrence Li Kwok-chang, Deputy Council Chairman; Dr Katherine Ngan, University Court Chairman; Dr Roy Chung Chi-ping, Honorary Court Chairman; President Emeritus Professor The Honourable Poon Chung-kwong; and Ms Zhou Qian, Director-General of the Department of Treaty and Law, Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the HKSAR.

The event not only marked the founding of the Nation but also served as a moment for attendees to express their hopes for a prosperous and stable future for Hong Kong and the country. The PolyU Student Flag-Raising Team performed the honours, showcasing the spirit and dedication of the University community.
