The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) continues to achieve international recognition, solidifying its reputation as a global leader in world-class education and research. In particular, PolyU's ranking of 84th place in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2025, together with its strong performance in Stanford University's 2024 list of most-cited scientists, highlights PolyU's commitment to innovation and academic excellence.

 

PolyU climbs to 84th in THE World University Rankings 2025

PolyU has achieved an encouraging milestone, securing the 84th position in the prestigious THE World University Rankings 2025. This impressive result, a three-place improvement from last year, marks the fourth consecutive year PolyU has been ranked among the world's top 100 universities in the THE Rankings.

 

The Rankings, which evaluate over 2,000 universities worldwide, spotlighted PolyU's research competence. For the second consecutive year, the University achieved full scores in "Research Productivity" and "Research Excellence," and was rated first in Hong Kong for "Research Strength."

 

PolyU shines as a hub of top scholars

In a further testament to PolyU’s research excellence, 232 PolyU scholars were among the world’s top 2% most-cited scientists in a list by Stanford University, based on their career-long citation impact. Together with the scholars named for their single-year citation impact, a total of 355 PolyU scholars were recognised.

 

PolyU furthermore boasts the highest number of most-cited scholars globally in the field of Building and Construction, and the second highest in the field of Civil Engineering, based on career-long citation impact. The University has the largest number of top 2% scientists in Hong Kong in 12 sub-fields, also based on career-long citation impact, showcasing the University’s strength across multiple disciplines.
