New Mainland partnerships advance health science
Building on its extensive experience in health science education and research, PolyU has forged a number of new strategic partnerships with Mainland hospitals and educational institutions. These interdisciplinary collaborations aim to integrate fields, such as engineering, rehabilitation, and radiology, to advance health science.
Merging medicine and engineering with Peking University Third Hospital
In January, PolyU signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Peking University Third Hospital (PUTH) to establish the Medicine-Engineering Collaborative Innovation Research Laboratory. This partnership combines the strengths of both institutions to foster innovation in medicine and engineering, laying a solid foundation for cultivating future medical professionals and contributing to global medical advancements.
PolyU and PUTH agree to officially establish the Medicine-Engineering Collaborative Innovation Research Laboratory. Promoting interdisciplinary medical research with Peking University Health Science Center
Building on its collaborative momentum, PolyU signed an MoU with the Peking University Health Science Center (PUHSC) in February to explore collaboration in medical technology. The partnership aims to promote interdisciplinary medical disciplines through joint research projects and academic exchanges, leveraging the research capabilities and academic resources of PolyU’s Faculty of Health and Social Sciences and PUHSC’s Institute of Medical Technology.

Enhancing sports medicine and rehabilitation with Southern Medical University and SMU Shenzhen Hospital
PolyU has further expanded its partnerships by collaborating with Southern Medical University (SMU) and Shenzhen Hospital of Southern Medical University (SMU Shenzhen Hospital) to enhance sports medicine and rehabilitation services. The collaboration will establish the International Sports Medical Rehabilitation Centre, integrating medical care, education, and research to deliver high-quality sports medicine rehabilitation and clinical services.
The partnership will leverage the strengths of PolyU’s Department of Rehabilitation Sciences and the PolyU Research Institute for Sports Science and Technology, alongside SMU’s School of Rehabilitation Medicine and the clinical expertise of SMU Shenzhen Hospital.

Radiation oncology research with Shandong First Medical University
An MoU with Shandong First Medical University (SDFMU) further strengthens PolyU’s medical research network. This partnership will combine PolyU’s strengths in health technology and informatics with SDFMU’s experience in clinical work and advanced medical technologies for tumour radiotherapy, advancing talent and research development in the field.

These strategic partnerships complement PolyU’s existing collaborations with other Mainland universities and align with its plans to establish the third medical school to meet the growing demand for quality healthcare services in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area. Building on 40 years of experience in nurturing over 50,000 allied healthcare professionals across various disciplines, PolyU continues to deliver significant support and enhance the local healthcare system through these collaborative initiatives.
