Through games and case studies, this course aims to help students to understand the legal system in Hong Kong, including: criminal and civil litigation, common criminal offences (including offences of dishonesty, deception, forgery, theft), elementary criminology, internet law, law on intellectual property, employment law, discrimination and privacy. Some FAQs include: “What is the jurisdiction of the court?”, “Will the use of forged document(s) constitute a criminal offence?”, “What is the relationship between ethics and law?”, “What can I do in ethical dilemma?”, “What is Fraud Triangle?”, “Is there any criminal liability in the internet?”, “Is there any criminal liability for visiting pornographic websites?”, “What kind of action will constitute discrimination?”, “What is sexual harassment, and will I be prosecuted if I sexually harass others?” and “Which kind of intellectual property are protected by law?”
Teaching Mode: Face-to-face
Medium of Instruction: English supplemented with Cantonese and Putonghua
Quota: 20 per class
Law is often considered as boring, complicated and difficult to understand. Through actual or simulated cases in real life, this course introduces common legal knowledge in a fun and relaxed way, thus helping students to understand the importance of law in society and in daily life, and to deal ethical dilemma legally.
