FAQ: Readmission Scheme for UG students

Difference between Normal Readmission and Special Readmission Scheme (SRS) for UG students

  1. Compared with first time admission, students with prior hall residence experience (including current hall residents and students who have already checked out) will be given lower priority on hall admission. Their hall applications will be processed according to the mechanism of Normal Readmission.
  2. Discretionary arrangement for readmission: Residents of the current residential year may apply for Special Readmission Scheme (SRS) when submitting their hall application in May each year. There is no separate application for SRS. For residents of CURI RC, instead of SRS, they may join a readmission scheme called Readmission Scheme of CURI RC (RSCRC) in their hall application. Hall Residents should note that Normal Readmission, SRS and RSCRC have their unique scoring mechanism, and the respective scores are non-transferrable.
  3. There is no appeal mechanism or waiting list for SRS and RSCRC. In case SRS or RSCRC is not successful, student’s hall application via normal readmission will continue to process. Due to the overwhelming number of hall applications, it is unlikely for students under normal readmission be granted with a hall offer before the commencement of academic year. Their name will be kept on a waiting list and when a hall place arises in their turn, they will be informed by email. Non-local students are reminded to arrange their own accommodation if considered necessary.
