Staff Development
PolyU recognizes that it is vital for our staff to keep abreast of the ever-changing world and to seek continuous advancement. To support their development, educational subsidies and staff development leaves are offered to staff members who participate in external job-related learning and education. In addition, an Overseas Scholarship Scheme (Teaching Development) was set up with funding from the University Grants Committee to promote professional development. Teachers are supported to explore innovative teaching practices and policies in overseas study missions so they can implement them in the local context. An Overseas Scholarship Scheme (Implementation Fund) has also been set up to facilitate the implementation of overseas teaching practices.
Different training and development opportunities are provided to develop a robust and outstanding team. Topics include languages, management skills, communication skills, legal knowledge, mental wellness, and occupational health and safety. Apart from conventional training methods, PolyU also offers online courses as an alternative learning mode for staff to explore new topics or enrich knowledge in their leisure time.
