Mission and Vision

LnT_PolyUThe University’s commitment to education finds its expression in its vision and mission statement. The current statement, which came into effect on 1 July 2018, is an update to the 2011 version. The university vision’s emphasis of holistic education is in good alignment with the University’s pledged role to develop all-round learners with professional competence, whereas the university mission’s highlight of the main qualities that the University seeks to nurture.

Strategic Plan on Learning and Teaching

LnT_PolyU The University’s Strategic Plan on learning and teaching for 2019/20-2024/25 identifies nurturing holistic professionals for the future as the overarching objective. It sets the following as this term’s strategic priorities:

  1. To instil in students the desire to learn and strengthen their ability to learn to learn;
  2. Enhance the student learning experience through the use of interactive pedagogies;
  3. Transform physical and virtual learning spaces to facilitate new teaching and learning pedagogies;
  4. Provide a supportive environment for students to review and reflect on their learning;
  5. Prepare ourselves for the onset of digital transformation in tertiary education;
  6. Continue to enhance the quality of undergraduate degree programmes; and
  7. Create a culture conducive to valuing teaching and learning and to motivating teachers to excel.

Policy and regulations

LnT_PolyU Policy by Nick Youngson CC BY-SA 3.0 Alpha Stock Images   PolyU has very well-established frameworks of policies and regulations for assuring and enhancing the quality of academic programmes. PolyU’s QA system is characterised by multi-level monitoring, built-in external input, mandatory adoption of outcome-based approach and robust assessment of learning outcomes.
