Mission and Vision
The University’s commitment to education finds its expression in its vision and mission statement. The current statement, which came into effect on 1 July 2018, is an update to the 2011 version. The university vision’s emphasis of holistic education is in good alignment with the University’s pledged role to develop all-round learners with professional competence, whereas the university mission’s highlight of the main qualities that the University seeks to nurture.
Strategic Plan on Learning and Teaching
The University’s Strategic Plan on learning and teaching for 2019/20-2024/25 identifies nurturing holistic professionals for the future as the overarching objective. It sets the following as this term’s strategic priorities:
- To instil in students the desire to learn and strengthen their ability to learn to learn;
- Enhance the student learning experience through the use of interactive pedagogies;
- Transform physical and virtual learning spaces to facilitate new teaching and learning pedagogies;
- Provide a supportive environment for students to review and reflect on their learning;
- Prepare ourselves for the onset of digital transformation in tertiary education;
- Continue to enhance the quality of undergraduate degree programmes; and
- Create a culture conducive to valuing teaching and learning and to motivating teachers to excel.
Policy and regulations

PolyU’s QA system is characterised by multi-level monitoring, built-in external input, mandatory adoption of outcome-based approach and robust assessment of learning outcomes.
