LMS students awarded in HKLA 10th Hong Kong Logistics Case Competition and Workshop

We are thrilled to announce the incredible accomplishments of our undergraduate students awarded in the Hong Kong Logistics Case Competition and Workshop organised by the Hong Kong Logistics Association (HKLA). A highlight of this event was an eye-opening visit to Yamato Logistics (HK) Ltd., where participants gained invaluable firsthand insights and landscape into logistics operations. The journey also featured engaging workshops and presentation sessions. Our talented teams tackled a challenging business case and showcased their creativity, strategic thinking and innovative solutions. CIPS Best Student Awards 2024

Your outstanding achievements and innovation truly set you apart in a competitive field. To receive this esteemed award, the awardees submitted their resumes along with insightful essay on “AI Application in Procurement and Supply Chain”. They showcased their knowledge during a panel interview that covered various aspects of the procurement and supply chain profession. Congratulations to our awardees!

LMS Students Crowned Champion in 2025 Student Case Competition

In the 2025 Student Case Competition, hosted by APICS Premier Training Partner – DataDevelop, the Winner accolade was awarded to Miss Yiu Tsz-yi, Miss Lu Ka-yin, Miss Li Wenxin, Miss Sheng Jiaqi, and Mr Ko Chun-hin (from left to right in the picture). We would also like to congratulate another team from LMS for winning the Second Runner-Up in the competition: Miss Hannah Chen Kai-yi , Mr Ou Letian, Mr Sun Tianhao, Miss Xu Yingying, and Mr Wang Honglin. Your hard work and passion are greatly appreciated. Dr Jacky Hau coached this accomplished team of five students, who are currently studying in the BBA (Hons) Supply Chain Management & Analytics programme. The student team first joined a half-day pre-event workshop arranged by the host, focusing on Sustainable Innovation for ‘Made in Hong Kong’ Products. Then, all competing teams from various universities were challenged to act as entrepreneurs, crafting business proposals with innovative and sustainable approaches. Our champion team explored and addressed the pressing need for efficient triage services faced by the Hospital Authority, proposing 'I-Triage' - a solution aimed at alleviating the nurse shortage by automating vital sign checks for patients in Accident & Emergency in public hospitals. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the winners and take immense pride in our students' outstanding performance in this open competition.

Institute for Supply Management Hong Kong (ISM-HK) Student Case Competition 2025, co-organised by PolyU LMS, is now open for registration. This prestigious event provides a valuable platform for students to apply their classroom knowledge, critical thinking, innovative solutions and teamwork to real-world business scenarios. Emerging Global Leaders Scholarship 2025/26

Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies at the Faculty of Business of PolyU will continue offering “Emerging Global Leaders Scholarship” for JUPAS applicants with outstanding HKDSE qualifications and admitted to 2025/26 intake cohort 4-year undergraduate degree programme—BBA (Hons) Scheme in Global Business and Logistics, Aviation, Maritime and Supply Chain Management (JUPAS code: JS3070). A maximum of 25 scholarships will be awarded. The total sum of each scholarship, HK$300,000 covers a full tuition fee for the whole undergraduate study and overseas exchange activities. PolyU Info Day 2024: A huge success with our passionate LMS team!

We had an incredible success at PolyU Info Day, with a full house at our thematic talk held in TU201, filled with eager potential students! Our LMS programme leaders—Dr. Anthony Pang, Dr. Bu Jinzhi, Dr. Jiang Changmin, Dr. Patrick Tsang, Ir Dr. T.L. Yip, Dr. Judy Tong, and Dr. Wu Shining—introduced the four majors of our LMS programmes. Our dedicated alumni and student helpers were eager in sharing their valuable insights for the interested attendees. After the talk, they could get further information at our departmental booth set up right outside the seminar venue. In addition, we hosted a series of lab tours at CD 4/F, featuring exciting demonstrations of the ship simulator and VR Cave. Our student helpers engaged with curious students, fostering meaningful conversations. Alumni also assisted and they were happy to connect with student helpers after the Info Day, creating a vibrant alumni-student sharing community. Overall, it was a wonderful Info Day where all involved benefited from new knowledge, friendships, and clear direction for their great future. We look forward to welcoming all of these interested and passionate ones to join our PolyU family in the soon future! Best LMS Capstone Project Prize 2023/24

We are delighted to announce that three groups of LMS undergraduate students were awarded the “Best LMS Capstone Project Prize” in the 2023/24 academic year in recognition of their outstanding performance in capstone projects. All contestants showcased in-depth background research, methodology, implementation and evaluation, along with exceptional leadership and teamwork skills. Outstanding Alumni Award of PolyU Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies 2024

The Outstanding Alumni Award aims to give public recognition to outstanding graduates for their professional achievements and significant contributions to the community and their alma mater. We are pleased to announce the following awardees of the Outstanding Alumni Award of PolyU Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies 2024 for their remarkable achievements.   Captain Lothair Lam Ming Fung - Outstanding Senior Alumni Award in Professional Achievement 2024 Capt. Lam—currently the Chairman of Hong Kong Ming Wah Shipping Co., Ltd. since July 2024 and former Deputy General Manager since 2021— has a distinguished career in the maritime industry. A graduate of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Capt. Lam began his career as a seafarer with Wah Kwong Shipping and earned his Class 1 (Deck) Certificate of Competency from the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency in 2006. By 2007, he was commanding a Capesize bulk carrier. Capt. Lam is an Associate Fellow-Member of the Nautical Institute and holds several key positions,including Chairman of the Institute of Seatransport, Committee Member of the Hong Kong Maritime and Port Board, Executive Committee Member of the Hong Kong Shipowners Association, and Vice Chairman of the Asian Shipowners’ Association’s Seafarers Committee. His professional contributions extend to serving as Secretary General of the Hong Kong Shipping Circles Association and as an External Examiner for the Higher Diploma in Maritime Studies at the Maritime Services Training Institute/Vocational Training Council. Capt. Lam is a frequent guest speaker at career talks, expos, and seminars, where he shares his vast industry knowledge and inspires future maritime professionals.   Dr Shang Guangzhi - Outstanding Young Alumni Award in Scholarly Achievement 2024 Dr Shang is Jim Moran Associate Professor of Business Administration in the Department of Business Analytics, Information Systems, and Supply Chain at Florida State University’s College of Business. His research has been published in Production and Operations Management (POM), the Journal of Operations Management (JOM), MIS Quarterly (MISQ), and Decision Sciences (DS), among others. His work has received best paper awards from POM, JOM, and the POM Society’s College of Operational Excellence. Dr Shang serves as Department Editor for the Empirical Research Methods Department at JOM and for the Retail Operations Department at DS. His review service was recognised by his receiving DS’s 2019 Outstanding Reviewer Award and JOM’s 2018 Best Reviewer Award. He has also been nominated for POM’s Best Reviewer Award and JOM’s Best Associate Editor Award. Dr Shang also co-authors a column called ‘View from Academia’ in Reverse Logistics Magazine, with Mike Galbreth and Mark Ferguson. The column aims to convey the very latest academic knowledge to industry professionals dealing with consumer returns. He is currently co-editing a special issue of JOM titled ‘Operational Perspectives on Blockchain Applications’.

PolyU Consultation Day on 18 May 2024

We were thrilled to have our PolyU JUPAS Consultation Day on 18 May 2024 which was well received by high school students, parents, school educators and logistics & maritime industry partners. During our mock interview sessions and information seminars, our programme leaders offered advice and tips on their JUPAS choices and admission arrangements. Our BBA (Hons) Scheme in Aviation, Maritime and Supply Chain Management (JS3070) programme includes four majors: BBA-Aviation Management & Finance (AMF), BBA-International Shipping and Transport Logistics (ISTL), BBA-Supply Chain Management and Analytics (SCMA), as well as a dual degree programme BBA-Global Business and Logistics (GBL) jointly offered by Copenhagen Business School (CBS) and Polyu that admitted students may earn two degrees from PolyU and CBS in 4 years.  Another piece of big good news is the “Emerging Global Leaders Scholarship” of HK$300,000 eligible for local HKDSE applicants. This scholarship covers the full tuition fee and overseas development activities!
