Local, Mainland China and overseas graduates wishing to enroll on the full-time stream under MScISTL programme offered by the Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies of PolyU, and having met the following entrance requirements of the programme.
Local Applicants
A Bachelor's degree in any discipline.
Mainland China and Overseas Applicants
A Bachelor's degree in International Shipping or Maritime Studies or other relevant disciplines with:
English being the Medium of Instruction; or
English not being the Medium of Instruction, then applicants are also required to meet either one of the following requirements:
An IELTS Academic Test with a score of at least 6; or
A TOEFL Paper-based test score of at least 550, including a score of at least 4.5 in the Test of Written English; or
A TOEFL Internet-based test score of at least 80, including a score of at least 20 in the Test of Written English.
If you are not a native speaker of English, and your Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification is awarded by institutions where the medium of instruction is not English, you are expected to fulfil the University’s minimum English language requirement for admission purpose. Academic merit;
Commitment to undertaking the full-time stream of the programme with 40 academic credits and 6 training credits of Maritime Industry Internship (exemption may be granted to local scholarship recipients with relevant internship/work experience);
Commitment to serving in the maritime industry in Hong Kong.
Selection Process
The PolyU and the Scholarship's Steering Committee will select suitable candidates for interview according to the aforementioned selection criteria.
Conditions of Award
The recipients are not allowed to concurrently hold any other local merit-based incentives during the studies of the MScISTL programme.
The recipients are required to complete the MScISTL programme, covering 40 academic credits and 6 training credits of Maritime Industry Internship (exemption may be granted to local scholarship recipients with relevant internship/work experience).
Within 3 calendar months upon successful completion of the MScISTL programme, the recipients should start working full time in the maritime industry in Hong Kong for a period of not less than twelve consecutive calendar months.
In case the recipient fails to fulfill any one of the above conditions, he/she is required to refund the scholarship received in full to the Scholarship Scheme. Each recipient is required to sign an undertaking to the effect of the conditions above, which shall form a contract between the Scholarship Scheme and the recipient.

Remarks
There is another programme of MSc in International Shipping and Transport Logistics (Mixed-mode) (44087:IFM/IPM) (34 credits) also available for application. Please visit here for more details on the programme.
Unsuccessful applicants will not be considered for the regular 44087-IFM programme automatically. Applications for the two programmes will be processed separately and the application fee is non-transferable.
To maximize the chances of admission, applicants are advised to apply for both the 44087-ISS and 44087-IFM programmes simultaneously.

Non-local students must obtain a valid student visa issued by the Hong Kong Immigration Department before being allowed to register as students or commence study with PolyU.
