We are thrilled to announce that PolyU has been honoured with the "Good Organisation Award" at the “Good Citizen Award (GCA) Presentation Ceremony 2024”!
The Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF) held the “Good Citizen Award (GCA) Presentation Ceremony 2024” at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 23 February 2025. During the ceremony, the Force honoured 80 citizens and seven organisations for their contributions to crime prevention and public safety.
To protect students from falling victim to scams, PolyU has collaborated with HKPF to launch the "Online Anti-deception Learning Kit" since 2024. Completion of this course is mandatory for all new students before enrolment. As of December 2024, over 13,000 students have successfully completed the course. The programme has proven highly effective, leading to a significant reduction in telephone deception cases targeting university students, particularly among non-local students.
In the third quarter of 2024, the number of victims on campus decreased by 50% year-on-year, accompanied by a notable reduction in financial losses. Additionally, the university continues to hold anti-deception seminars on campus to promote awareness among students.
This recognition highlights our commitment to supporting the HKPF in their efforts to combat crime and enhance public safety. We are proud to be part of a community that values collaboration and good citizenship.
