The Career Development Programmes provide career planning and related services to students in order to meet their career development needs. Apart from running training workshops, CPS makes available various online tools and resources to help students in their job search.
The following training workshops and career sessions are organised throughout the year:
- career advising (one-to-one career coaching) sessions;
- training workshops for internships;
- training workshops for graduating classes; and
- career programmes.

Career Advising (One-to-One Career Coaching) Session
In this 45-minute one-to-one consultation session, our Career Advisors provide professional advice and useful tips to students regarding career planning, job-search skills and interview preparation.

Types of one-to-one career coaching session include:
Mock Face-to-Face Interview
It aims at helping students get ready for a job interview. Our Career Advisors will give advice on handling common interview questions and developing interview strategies.
Mock Telephone Interview
Upon registration, our Career Advisors will contact the student by phone at the scheduled time.
- Preparations to be made for the session include:
- providing a valid landline number;
- testing the volume; and
- finding a quiet location to avoid any disruptions.
Mock Skype Interview
It is common for overseas employers to conduct Skype interviews, either by call or video conferencing. Upon registration, our Career Advisors will contact the student via Skype at the scheduled time.
Training Workshops for Internships
CPS offers workshops to assist students in preparing for successful applications for external internships, e.g. HKUYA Summer Internship, IAESTE, and Post-secondary Student Summer Internship Programme of the HKSARG.

CPS also organises pre-departure training workshops to help students get prepared for their WIE internships.
Pre-departure Training Workshop
These workshops are designed for students who have opted for non-local WIE internships. Topics include:
- preparation for travel;
- outbound travel tips and advice;
- cultural differences; and
- WIE Kick-off Ceremony.
All students who are about to start their Mainland or International WIE internships will be invited to attend the workshops.
Training Workshops for Graduating Classes
Final-year students should get themselves ready for recruitment. CPS, in this connection, offers workshops to assist them in starting their career. Related workshops include “Group Assessment Centre” workshops, “Ace Your Case Study Writing” workshops, “Interview for Success Series” workshops, and “Mastering Your Common Recruitment Examination (CRE)” workshops.
